ESDC’s New Wage Requirements for High-Wage TFWP Stream
Starting November 8, 2024, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is increasing wage requirements for the high-wage stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
Employers must now pay foreign workers at least 20% above the local median wage for their role. This change aims to support Canadian wage growth and impacts up to 34,000 workers nationwide, with hourly raises between $5–$8 CAD.
Employers can no longer use attestations from accountants or lawyers to prove business legitimacy, and enhanced information-sharing will target program misuse. For more information on how to immigrate as a Temporary Foreign worker or LMIA, do reach out to us
