Canada’s New Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots set to begin this month: A Direct Path to Permanent Residency

Canada is set to launch the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots on March 31, 2025, offering a streamlined pathway to permanent residency for home care workers. These pilots replace the previous Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots, which concluded on June 17, 2024.

Key Features of the New Pilots:

One-Step Permanent Residency: Qualified home care workers and their families can attain permanent residency without prior Canadian work experience in the occupation.

  • Reduced Requirements: Applicants need a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 4 in English or French and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexible Eligibility: Candidates must have at least six months of recent, relevant work experience or have completed a related home care training program of at least six months.
  • Versatile Employment Opportunities: Job offers can come from private households or organizations directly hiring full-time workers to provide short-term or occasional home care. This includes home health care service providers and personal care services in residential settings. Recruitment or placement agencies are excluded.

These pilots aim to address Canada’s evolving home care needs by simplifying the immigration process for essential workers in this sector.
